What is Colavosalon?

Colavosalon is a digital platform designed to streamline operations for beauty and wellness businesses. The platform offers features helping independent salon professionals save time and grow their businesses.

Context

Colavosalon wanted to reach a broader segment of solo salon owners while launching new features. Instead of starting with feature-led messaging, I used active-user interviews to understand which parts of the product actually mattered most in their daily work.

Problem

The Product Had Strong Features,
but the Messaging Was Too Feature-Focused

This made it harder for solo salon owners to connect the product with the everyday pain points it was designed to solve, such as booking interruptions and repetitive appointment follow-up.

Approach

Find the Value Users Already Recognized

Reviewing existing interview findings, I identified two recurring value drivers.

01

Fewer interruptions during client workBooking links reduced the need to respond to incoming availability inquiries while providing services.

02

Less manual follow-up around appointmentsAutomated reminders reduced time spent preventing no-shows and handling scheduling misunderstandings.

Key Insight

The strongest value wasn’t “better booking software.”
It was helping solo owners stay focused on their clients.

This shifted the messaging strategy from feature-led benefits to recognizable work situations.

Messaging Strategy

Lead with the Pain Point, Then Reveal the Product Value

Instead of explaining features first, I structured the ads around familiar moments in a salon owner’s day.

Interruption from booking inquiries→show the frustration→introduce self-service booking as the relief
Reminder and no-show burden→show the repeated follow-up→introduce automated reminders as the relief

Execution

Use Real User Language to Create Recognition

I created short-form, interview-style ads using salon owners’ own words and experiences. Each piece focused on one operational pain point so viewers could recognize the situation before being introduced to the feature that solved it.

The campaign also drove strong growth in sign-ups from the target segment, validating the shift toward pain-point-focused messaging.

What I Learned

Product value becomes clearer when it is expressed through users’ real situations, not just feature benefits.

This project reinforced that user research can shape not only product decisions, but also how the product is positioned and understood in the market.
